The Buccleuch and Queensberry Hotel has been lovingly restored and is now family run. The family has added their flair and individuality, resulting in a relaxed homely atmosphere, finished to the highest of standards and offering some of the best accommodation and food in Dumfriesshire.

Set in the heart of the charming market town Thornhill, the hotel is a thriving hub for the local community and visitors alike.

The restaurant and back bar serve locally sourced food, prepared by Head Chef William Pottinger and his team. Our menus change with the season and on availability of fresh produce.

Dumfries and Galloway has a fascinating history worth exploring, with close connections to Robert Burns whose birth place lies nearby, the trail of Robert the Bruce, as well as many beautiful Castles and Gardens.

We have a partnership with one of Scotland’s finest stately homes, Drumlanrig Castle, that sits three miles from the hotel. We would be delighted to put together picnics, walking and cycling trails as well as many other activites for you to enjoy within the grounds of this magnificient estate.

After a long day fishing on the River Nith or cycling around the local countryside retire to the bar and exchange your tales over a dram or two.
