5 Day trips from the BQA
5 Day trips you can take on your luxury break at the BQA Hotel
The Buccleuch and Queensberry Arms Hotel has got everything just right when it comes to providing you with a luxury break. That is when you don’t have bored children and a dog to entertain. To offer a little help and possible boredom free zones away from the hotel Dumfries and Galloway have great activities just waiting for you to enjoy. Here are our top 5 picks to keep you occupied during your stay. There should be plenty here to cram your days full of fun.
- Sandyhills beach
You might be the lucky ones to visit the BQA during a stretch of sunny weather. In that case the plan of attack should definitely be none other than a trip to the beach. Ice cream, sandcastles and sun…what more could you possibly need? Great for both paddling in the shallow waters and picnics on the miles of clean sandy beach, it seems almost rude not to go!
- Cream O’ Galloway
Cream o galloway is a fantastic way to spend a day out with the kids. The activities available to you here are almost endless! As well as events such as ice cream tasting (I’ll have one of each please) and the creamery tour available for you to fit into your day there is also a whole heap of other fun ways to jam pack your day. There is the adventure playground, the 3d maze and viewing tower, bike and nature trails, indoor play and go Boing! Go Boing! is the new netting adventure zone (a really really big trampoline) for the kids to explore. After all that running around you’ll be glad to get back to the BQA Hotel Dumfries and Galloway to tick off the well needed relaxation part of your luxury break.
- Galloway Forest Park
Voted the Darkest Sky in Europe, the largest forest in Scotland due to it’s remoteness has gained the title of the only Dark Sky Park in the UK. Fun fact of the day. However during the day this park is buzzing with life and activity, offering a list of activities for your family to busy themselves with. Whether that is mountain biking down the hills, looking out for wildlife both foraging in the ground or circling in the sky above or family fun on the orienteering trail the three visitors centres at Kirroughtree, Glentrool and Clatteringshaws will send you on the right path!
- Galloway Activity Centre
With a mix of water based and other outdoor activities available the GAC is a great option for the whole family to add a little adrenaline to the luxury break. We all need some excitement right? Thats makes relaxing in the best luxury hotel Dumfries and Galloway has to offer even better! So what exactly can you do here at the GAC. Well as well as a host of water sports such as sailing, windsurfing and paddle-boarding there’s the climbing tower, archery and laser games! Not forgetting of course the newly added wobbly waterpark, there is bound to be something to excite the whole family!
- Galloway Wildlife Conservation Park
Looking for something a little less energetic and adrenaline fuelled? How about a trip to the Galloway Wildlife and Conservation Park. The park is around 27 acres of woodland and houses around 150 animals from all over the world deemed to be a threatened species. This park is an excellent day out for children to get to see animals from across the globe in a natural setting. The captive breeding programme aims to aid the international conservation effort, so even just buying a ticket you’re helping too! The smaller animals are allowed to roam freely around the park area so who know what you’ll see?
