Holiday Scavenger hunt
Perfect for a day out with the children! July 30th to the 31st is the Holiday Scavenger Hunt at the castle. This is a perfect day for your little exploring extraordinaires! Pick up a check sheet from the gift shop and on you go! Explore the woodlands and Castle grounds and see what wonderful wildlife you can find! The children will love hunting on the woodland floor for all of the wildlife on the list, maybe even finding a few more to add!
Land Rover Tours
Fancy exploring the Nithsdale countryside in style? Then the Drumlanrig Tours is the excursion for you. Accompanied by an experienced ranger you will be driven round the natural landscapes whilst they educate you on the local wildlife and history of the land. These tours can be tailored made to suit your interests as the Buccleuch rangers have many years experience. This year you can enjoy a 3 hour (half day) tour at the following prices:
- £50 per person (minimum charge of £100)
- £120 for a family ticket for 2 adults and 2 children. Extra children will be £20 each.
- £200 maximum for groups of more than 4 adults
Take a tour with the rangers and return to the BQA hotel in Dumfries and Galloway for a relaxing stay and excellent quality food in our luxury hotel.
Walking and hiking
Following original paths built during the Victorian Era, through the grounds of the castle there are numerous walks to suit all the family. Ranging from 2-5km the marked paths vary in difficulty. These walks are popular with those travelling with four legged companions as dogs can join you on the trails. After all, they are part of the family too right? However it must be noted that they need to either be kept on a lead or under close control at all times to protect any nearby wandering livestock.
Cycling and Mountain Biking
Take a leisurely bike ride through the spectacular scenery at Drumlanrig Castle or for the more adventurous among you, try out one of the world class mountain biking trails. Again there are 3 different types of routes so you can decide which difficulty level you wish to follow to make sure you include the whole family.
Staying in a luxury hotel in Dumfries and Galloway sounds like a great idea doesn’t? Not if your children are bored and nagging you for things to occupy them. That’s why the Adventure Park at Drumlanrig Castle is your saving grace. With two tunnel slides, a 6ft high space net, climbing net, climbing frames and much much more kids of all ages will have to be dragged away from the Adventure Playground. Parent’s might even wish they could join in too!
