We have some fantastic room rates on offer this month and we are even dog-friendly, so the whole family can come on their summer jollies! Here are just 5 great things to do in Dumfries and Galloway this summer.
1.Walk to the Grey Mare’s Tail – The UK’s fifth highest waterfall and certainly the most beautiful! The Grey Mare Tail plunges an impressive 60 metres from Loch Skeen. Hike to the top for breathtaking views over this historic hanging valley.
2. Cycle famous 7 Stanes – Mountain bike enthusiasts can bag 5 out of the 7 award winning hill and woodland trails within the county. The trails are characterised by their individual stones, placed somewhere along each trail, by Carlisle sculptor, George Young.
3. Knockengorroch World Ceilidh – Described as a ‘global hoedown in the hills’ this family friendly festival is a vibrant melting pot of music, arts and workshops set deep in the hills of Upland Scotland. Committed to celebrating cultural diversity and supporting the regeneration of the Scottish Uplands, this festival celebrates a myriad of music genres and welcomes musicians and performers from across the world.
4. Eden Festival – This small, boutique festival welcomes just 5000 guests each year. Set in the stunning Raehills meadows, Eden’s playlist includes everything from ska and pop to R’n’B and dance hall. There are actives for all ages, including treasures hunts and arts & crafts. Children 12 years and under can come in free of charge, too!
