Why we love changing our menu for Summer from William Pottinger
As a seasonal restaurant in Dumfries and Galloway, Head Chef Will Pottinger has his nose to the ground when it comes to which foods are coming and going in and out of season. Changing the BQA Hotel restaurant menu taking this into account means you as a customer receive dishes using the freshest of ingredients. Choosing to incorporate produce that is currently in season into the menu means you’re using them at their freshest and so get the best possible flavour. Here are some of the additions to our menu that we’ve created to help get you into that summer spirit.
Crab, Avocado, Tomato Salad
With the weather heating up, we know you want something light and refreshing. Gone are the heavy homely dishes of winter and in with the refreshing salads. All of the ingredients in this salad are freshest in summer so this salad definitely packs flavour with a punch.
Lamb Hot Pot
Scottish Lamb shank served with mash potatoes and seasonal vegetables. The BQA restaurant in Dumfries and Galloway is also concerned with supporting local communities, sourcing produce as locally as possible. This is why we are using Scottish lamb in our restaurant. Lamb is great at this time of year, combined with our take on a traditional classic, this is a fantastic dinner choice.
The best til last….Desserts!
With hedgerows bursting with fruit at this time of year it is definitely an excellent month for desserts. The BQA has a whole line of desserts waiting to tantalize your tastebuds. Currently on the menu are Cherry Cheesecake, Scottish Strawberry Tart and Gooseberry and Elderflower Baked Alaska. We know what you’re thinking, one of each right? Well there is more fruity goodness yet to come with our Specials menu constantly changing to keep you coming back for more.
