What does the Taste Our Best award mean?
Fresh and Local
Receiving the Taste Our Best award means that the food prepared in our hotel is fresh and local produce. Our menus use local produce wherever possible in order to keep food miles to a minimum. Changing the dishes on our menus to keep in line with foods coming in and out of seasons is one way we ensure this.
Friendly and Knowledgeable Staff
A great restaurant requires three main things (amongst all the little added extras); good chefs, good quality food and good service. Another reason Visit Scotland perceive our restaurant as eligible recipients of the Taste Our Best award is the staff in our restaurant in Dumfries and Galloway. In addition to being friendly and providing great customer service, they are knowledgeable of the origins of the produce in the current dishes. From the perspective of the customer, information on where food has come from is always appreciated. That is why all of our staff are up to date with information of the current menu.
Finally, The BQA Hotel meets the requirements for the Taste Our Best award due to promoting ingredients of Scottish provenance. We highlight to our guests where are produce is sourced from. 40% of which, is also locally sourced from Scottish producers.
